task 1: review

I did a fair amount of research in to Louise Bourgeois in a previous skills unit which helped me to set the essay title which is:

“How does Louise Bourgeois examine and repair childhood distress through her Art”

I looked at various websites to gather information and to inform.

Thinking about the essay I referred to my previous research which helped me think about a number of points I will consider when writing my essay:

• Bourgeois spent 30 years in therapy – examining childhood
• trauma from her father’s affair with nanny. – fear, trauma
• mother died when she was young – trauma
• studied mathematics at Sorbonne – had an analytical mind
• was one of very few female artists in beginning of career – isolation
• Andre Breton did not want her to be part of Surrealist circle – further rejection
