It has taken most of this academic year to develop my website. As the year has progressed I have accumulated more and more work so I now have a selection of things to put on my website. When we started this course I had no idea how to set up a website and although I found it difficult to remember how to do everything in the beginning, as the year progressed, so has my confidence. I have noticed that especially during the last couple of months while I have been doing the final project and also working on two other modules concurrently that I feel confident and at ease navigating my way around ‘behind the scences’ of my wordpress site and that it is all starting to feel easier.
I have also learnt how to make my front page look more interesting and I have simplified the menus so it looks cleaner and clearer.
So far I have not needed my site to act as a portfolio for a potential employer or university but I can see how I now have the ability to dress up or dress down my site so it it relevant to any particular work or educational need that I may have in the future.
Having my website feels an essential tool and more recently it has become an essential part of me as it shows my work which is my creativity. I feel proud that in less than a year I have progressed from being totally ignorant about WordPress to now having a site that I can manage, edit and use as a tool for showcasing my work.
